Works With iPhone 3G & 2G Also

The original charger for my iPhone 3G failed so I needed to get a replacement. I purchased the inexpensive generic ones off of ebay and unsurprisingly, they all stopped working after a few months of use. One of them actually shorted out the first time I plugged it into the wall socket. You definitely get what you pay for.

I now have the Belkin 1.1 amp micro charger and so far I'm very happy with it. The compatible devices listed on the box are 4th/5th generation iTouch, 5th/6th generation iPod nano, and the iPhone 3GS/4/4S. Besides testing it on my iPhone 3GS, I've also used it on my iPhone 3G and 2G, and my 1st generation iPod nano and all of them charge perfectly. I don't own an iTouch or iPad so I'm not able to comment on the compatibility with those devices.

Along with the charger, you also get a separate 4ft USB cable that you can use to connect your device directly to your computer for syncing, or if you want to charge it that way. The cable is a little thicker and stiffer than the cable that comes from Apple, so depending on your preference, it could be a plus or minus.

The Belkin 1.1 amp charger with USB cable is a bit more expensive than buying a generic replacement but for me it was definitely worth it. The combined cost of buying multiple generic chargers that eventually failed, was higher than if I had just purchased this one instead. I recommend getting this charger.
